We celebrated our 10th Anniversary in 2019 and intended to start the second decade of the Midlands Family Business Awards with a huge celebration.
At the time the Awards should have launched on 3 May 2020, the UK was in lockdown and with the great uncertainty that surrounds the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing challenges faced by business owners, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Awards and return in 2021.
The incredibly challenging times for business owners not only at present but for the foreseeable future, will undoubtedly mean the focus will be on protecting their core business, their families and their employees. We are a resilient and innovative sector that have always played a crucial role in our economy and our communities and this crisis has highlighted that more than ever.
We will continue to support our sector by featuring the amazing stories of how they have embraced innovation to supply much needed supplies for our frontline NHS and key workers, supported their people and their communities and how they will adapt their business to overcome adversity.
We know that it can be a lonely place when times are tough, so when we are able we will also forums and more informal gatherings to provide the friendship and support that will be so crucial going forward.
The Awards were created in 2009 at a time when everyone was looking for ways to beat the recession, a valuable way to raise the profile of family businesses in the region; the challenges the future will bring means our support will be needed more than ever in 2021.
We very much look forward to welcoming you back next year, in the meantime stay safe.
