Shakespeare Martineau recently launched a wide scale opinion exchange with 454 SME leaders from across the UK and EU. 86 of the UK respondents were family business leaders providing us with an insight into their personal and business views around the impact on Brexit on their businesses.
The results of this research have been analysed and the firm's first report based on market research has now been published.
Key findings from our report include.
- 79% of leaders say the increased costs of imports will be a pitfall for family businesses
- 77% of respondents believe that a reduction in red tape would encourage investment and could be essential for business success
- 53% expect the flow of skilled workers into the country to decrease, creating a potential squeeze on labour and the skills gap
- 82% of leaders believe the UK is strong enough to be independent
