The team behind the 2011 Midlands Family Business Awards is hoping that this not-for-profit initiative will top last year's fund raising efforts to secure even more crucial cash for its two nominated charities.
The fund-raising has been given a major boost through the generosity of a wide range of donors, who have given some fantastic prizes for the awards ceremony raffle, including:
- Team Building Day for 12 at Attenborough Nature Reserve worth over £500 (donated by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust)
- One pair of Standard Premier return tickets to Paris, Brussels or Lille - (donated by Eurostar)
- i-Phone 4 - (donated by Vodafone)
- Dyson Bladeless Air Multiplier Fan (donated by James Dyson Foundation)
- A Weekend Stay at Woodside Lodges (donated by Woodside Lodges)
- Round of golf for 4 worth £160 (donated by Notts Golf & Country Club)
- 2 Boxing Day match tickets for Birmingham v West Ham (donated by Birmingham City FC)
- 4 tickets for a 40L game 2012 at Edgbaston (donated by Warwickshire CCC)
- Christmas Hamper (donated by Thomas Miller Investments)
- £100 John Lewis Gift Voucher (donated by Scottish Life)
- Christmas Hamper (donated by Thorn Baker Recruitment)
The awards raised just over £7,000 in 2010 and the organisers are hoping to take this up to five figures after this year's event on 17th November.
Charlotte Perkins, MD of the awards' founders The Wilson Organisation was keen from the outset to run the event as a charitable initiative:
'We recognise as the third generation in a successful family business that many children and young people grow up without the opportunities, privileges and values granted to many of those born into family businesses. We were determined that the Midlands Family Business Awards should raise funds to support families and young people and this is why we chose two family-focused charities - The Childrens Society and The Willow Foundation as a focus for our fund-raising efforts."
